Great place to stay above Vauclin
Villa Olga is a gem of a place high above the town of Vauclin. Below you are banana plantations and the coast. Pleasant house with a great porch and small salt pool. Bedrooms are downstairs and best for families as there are no doors for privacy. Classy bathroom and shower downstairs and upstairs. Tastefully decorated. Everything you need for a relaxing stay on Martinique. The driveway is steep but that's what gives you the incredible view where you can watch the rain showers pass over the banana fields. Only be aware of the owner's dogs that might steal your shoes if you leave them outside. Highly recommend Villa Olga.

Nous avons passé une très belle semaine à la villa. Le cadre est propice à la détente, pas un bruit (si ce n'est les oiseaux, grenouilles et les criquets), vue magnifique et voisins (Julie et Jean-Pierre) aux petits soins.

A beautiful & relaxing oasis with breathtaking views
Villa Montabel is a very unique and beautifully situated residence perched high on a hill above Le Vauclin with sweeping views of the valley and ocean. There are lush, fertile green pastures and banana groves all around. You can hear cows and chickens in the distance as well as birds, frogs, and other natural countryside sounds. If there is one word to describe the experience it would be complete relaxation. At first I was a bit concerned about the distance to the beaches, but quickly realized that this was actually a benefit and not a downside. You'll need a car regardless of where you stay in Martinique for groceries and excursions, so being a bit far from the beach up at the villa with so much privacy and peacefulness and a birds eye view of everything is worth a little extra driving time. The villa is also a great starting point for exploring the entire southern area and the rest of the island and only an hour from Fort-de-France. The villa isn't exactly new, but it is very charming and comfortable. The grounds are well maintained and there's a very sweet & friendly older watchdog named Vivi that keeps a close eye on things. The kitchen is updated and very well designed. Lots of dishware, glassware, a dishwasher, and plenty of seating inside and out. The pool area is also very beautiful and relaxing. The pool water was a bit cold for night swimming, but very refreshing during the heat of the afternoon. The outdoor shower is also a nice feature. There are also plenty of bathrooms and a machine for laundry. This villa is an excellent choice for Martinique and I would certainly stay there again! A few tips: Bring good bug spray with at least 25% Deet. There are mosquitos all over Martinique, as with every Caribbean destination. Use the supplied bed nets and be sure to tie them each morning and make sure there are no mosquitos inside before falling asleep. Keep the kitchen clean at all times to avoid ants, etc. This is the countryside, so bugs are to be expected. Keep windows closed at night and use the air conditioning. The patio area can also get slippery when wet & the large glass sliding doors are so clear you can bump into them , so use caution. Also be sure to bring your trash down to the supplied bins at the bottom of the driveway and keep the lids closed.
